Background: Secondary adrenal insufficiency is a common complication of transsphenoidal hypophysectomy (TSS) for pituitary adenoma. It is therefore imperative to rapidly and accurately identify patients requiring glucocorticoid replacement, thus minimising risks of adrenal insufficiency or unnecessary glucocorticoid exposure.
